The plan for the development of the Municipality of Pleven formulates the following vision: ”The approval of Pleven Municipality as the economic centre of the Northwestern region, realizing the available potential for a fast economic development and its transformation into an attractive centre for national and foreign investments”.
For forth year Pleven Municipality has national credit rating: Long-term bgAa3, short-term bgP-1, with positive perspective. The odit team of Bureau Veritas confirmed the certification Quality Management System certification ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 for the Municipality of Pleven.
The Municipality is characterized by a widely spectrum economics: Processing industry, Trade, repair and technical service; Disposal of electric and thermal energy; Transport, storing and messages; Building. Pleven is a developing town with leading priorities –trade, services, tourism and good traditions in the wine-producing industry. The firms „Sinhron invest” and „World Wines” which possess 2 000 decares French seedlings, invested in the creation of new vine massif and in the construction of a wine –cellar.
Since the beginning of 2007 a new factory for production of sandwich-panels has work. The international company “Metechno” has invested in it. The glass factory “Rubin” PLC-Pleven is a leading producer of wrapping glass.
There are several American machine–building enterprises in the municipality q which develop exceptionally well and work for the world market including USA and Japan. The basic enterprises are: Vaptzarov LCD and Alukom PLC. Firm “Sarten” produces light metal packaging of highest quality. The canning factory in Pleven, famous for being a producer of products with the trade mark “Storko” is the biggest working enterprise from this business field in Bulgaria.
The furniture branch is presented by the firms “Premier”PL and “Ecomebel”. An important project in the production sphere was released recently – the building of the big knitwear factory “Nevi fashicn”. The Pleven tailoring company “Dimitrov” LTD opened a new factory for male clothes in the town. About 600 small and medium enterprises function in the town.In 2008 a producing area of Corus Building Systems Bulgaria AD was found in Pleven and it represents a part of the worldwide steel producer Corus Group is provided from the high-technology line installed for profiling of iron sheets.
There are trade-service complexes of “Moto Pfohe”, “Via Intercar”, “Kirov”, “Wolkswagen auto center”, etc. in Pleven. Many big projects in the trade services sphere are being realized-“EM Desing”, “Technopolis”, “Technomarket”, “ Billa” and “Euromarket Group” are already in Pleven.
In the end of 2008 the new MALL-Center and the MAXI Trade center met first clients. The building of the biggest MALL in Northern Bulgaria is forthcoming- 25 000 sq m., in which except for the trade places and offices, many cultural- entertaining attractions, cinema halls and the building of an ice skating-rink and other installations to the value of more than 40 million levas by “ Aladin” firm are expected. The firm reconstructed the town park as a part of the investment program. The first outdoor library started working there. There is tendency to open another ones in the other parks and rest areas in Pleven.
It was build a new Business centre “Genimex” in the centre of the tawn. The 15- storey building of the hotel “Pleven” was reconstructed in the trade and business center “Mania Tower” with square surface of 7 000 square meters as an office area.
The hypermarkets of the chains “Praktiker”, “ Kaufland”, “Mr. Bricolage” and “Metro” are opened in Pleven. The first hypermarket of the chain “Lidl” began to work in 2011, the construction of the second one
is expected. The first Baumax centre in the North Bulgaria was opened. The firm offers more than 40 000 products in 4 sectors-construction, technics, interior and garden. It is famous with its social commitment. ”Fermer 2000”, “ Megatron”, “Farm trading”, “ Dikar consult” , “Rimex 1 Holding”, “ Agronim” and other importers and distributors of agricultural technics opened trade- service centres on the territory of Pleven.
In 2010 the municipality realized 14 projects with external funding. The most important ones are:”Organization of traffic to improve the physical environment in Pleven” on OP “ Regional development” with a budget of 7 527 585 BGN and “Optimization of a part of the municipality educational structure” with a budget of 4 158 903 BGN. Some other projects are operated in the municipality at the moment.
The municipality of Pleven realized the project “A complex project for a development of sustainable tourism in the region of Pleven with a budget of 5 047 345 BGN.
