Population

The population of the territory of Municipality Pleven by a permanent address towards July,2008 is 160203 people. On the first place is sharply outlined the urban centre Pleven with its population of 135597 people.49,05 of the  region,s inhabitants are concentrated in it. Pleven is the seventh largest town in Bulgaria and has functions  as a central settlement in the west part of the North Central Region. By virtue of it the density of population on the territory of Municipality Pleven -197.05 people of a s    quare kilometre has one of the highest values in the country. Predominant religion -east-orthodox    - 
90 % of  the Municipality,s inhabitants. About 5 % are Moslems. The Roman catholics form 5% from the population as well. The eparchy of  Nicopol /Municipality Pleven is a part of it / is the biggest catholic eparchy in the county.

The coefficient of economic activity is 47,6%.The coefficient of unemployment is 4,72%.
The Municipality of  Pleven has at its disposal enough labour resources, needed to serve for eventual high economic growth.

People with  technical and technological specialty are prevailing among the specialists- 40,4 %.The economists and jurists are 23,6 %, 8,25 % are agricultural and 8,9 % are the specialists from the sphere of education .4,5 % are medical workers, 9,0 % -humanitarian specialists.
In the educational structure of the unemployed people with secondary education are predominant-37,4 %. 4,6 % of them have a profession and specialty. People out of occupation with primary education are 28,0 % ,22,5 % are  the unemployed with elementary education. The lowest is the percent of university graduates-12,1 %.
