The Eastern-Orthodox is predominating by around 90% of the population; 5% of municipality's population are Moslems. Nikopol 's eparchy, which is included in Pleven municipality, is the biggest catholic eparchy in the country. The Roman-Catholics represent 5% 0f the population.

The church “Saint Nicholas” is the single monument of the Renaissance remained with national importance. It was erected in 1834 on the place of small chapel, during the time of the Second Bulgarian State, having undergone destructions in XVI –XVII centuries. By sultan's decree (firman), dated 1696 it was restored in its original appearance. Later on a bigger church was built, opened in 1834. The iconostas is made by masters of Triavna work-carving school and the icons drawn by representatives of Samokov's school. One of the richest icons collections of Dimitar Zograf, including 68 pieces is displayed in this church.

Records for “Saint Paraskeva” church may be traced down in Ottoman-Turkish registers dated 1523. By proposal of the Church board of trustees in 1870 on the place of old building, a new, solemnly inaugurated personally by Exarch Antim I.
There started in 2001 the construction of Catholic Church which is expected to be finalized at the end of 2005.
The construction of the new orthodoxy church in “Storgozia” residential area is rapidly advancing.
