BUSINESS DELEGATION FROM FINLAND |

 The managers of brewery drinking establishment of the name „Plevna” in Tampere, Finland, arrived in Pleven. The visit is on their own initiative in order to familiarize in details themselves about the events of the Russian-Turkish war and get to know the city, whose name bears the factory and one of the most qualitative in the northern country,. The brewery-restaurant „Plevna is located in the town’s center” of Tampere.
It was opened in 1994 in the premises of the former textile factory of the Scottish entrepreneur James Finleyson. In 1877 a new shop has been constructed to factory. After a month started the Russian-Turkish war. Workers of that same factory took part as volunteers fighting for the liberation of Pleven and Gorni Dabnik. In honor of the victory the new shop was named “Plevna”. Regarding the historical link between Pleven and Tempere there started since last year correspondence between the mayors of both cities intended to establish closer contacts and joint participation of projects, mostly in the field of culture. The guests from Finland met with the Chairperson of the municipality council Georg Spartanski, deputy mayor eng. Ognyan Tsanev and Ms. Mariya Kavulska – head of department „Economical development”. They told, the brewery attracts many tourists from home and abroad. Due to the great interest of the untraditional name they have been prepared a brochure for the visitors that tells the history of the factory, underlining that the nowadays beer brewery and restaurant are proud with the name of Plevna . All fifteen types of drink, being produced and offered here have the mark of “Plevna”. The proprietors offered along the weeks of the national kitchen also beer of various countries they traditionally produce to organize a week of Bulgaria,. Georg Spartanski assured the guests that due to the historical link, Pleven and Tempere have potential to establish cooperation in various fields in the context of United Europe. The group from Finland visited Panorama „Pleven Epopee”, the monument of Finland’s soldiers in Gorni dabnik, Gallery „Дарение Svetlin Rusev donation” and „Museum of Wine”. |
