The Ambassador of United States of America for Bulgaria – His Excellency Mr. John Bayerly and the US Embassy adviser for press and culture – Mr.David Sifkin met today with the Mayor Nayden Zelenogorski, his team and the Chairman of the Municipal Council Mr.Georg Spartanski. During the meeting Mr.Zelenogorski acquainted the official guests with development of the Pleven Municipality in different spheres, the level of investments and the good future perspectives.

12 representatives of Bulgarian local authorities in the Committee of the Regions of the European Union in Brussels were elected on the session of the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria Control Council on the 20th of May 2008 in Sofia. Mr.Nayden Zelenogorski – Mayor of Pleven municipality will represent the Bulgarian local authorities in the Committee of the Regions in the new mandate. He is a member of the Bulgarian delegation in the Committee of the Regions from 2005 and works actively in it structures.
Committee of the Regions is established in 1994 and ensures the consideration of the EU institutions with the regional and local authorities, because a great number of decisions, approved by the European Union have direct impact at regional and local level.

Mayor of the Pleven Municipality Mr. Nayden Zelenogorski met the representative of the European bank for reconstruction and development Mr. Doncho Barbalov. The good financial state of the Pleven Municipality gave us the reason to believe that Pleven Municipality is one very stable and promising customer, assured Mr. Barbalov. At the meeting were discussed the possibilities of the European bank for reconstruction and development to finance municipal project 

The Chairman of the Pleven Municipal Council – Mr.Georg Spartanski and the Mayor Nayden Zelenogorski were among the official guests, who were invited to attend the holidays of Moscow coinciding with the 860th anniversary of the Russian capital city. Our delegation was welcomed very cordial and was given special attention. The first men of Pleven were invited to the receptions of the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Mayor of Moscow Yurii Lujkov, as well as the Prefect of the Central administrative region of the Russian capital - Sergey Baidakov, with which Pleven has sister city relations from six years.
