The Mayor of the Municipality of Pleven Mr. Mayden Zelenorski visited Istanbul last week. The invitation was extended by Mr. Jisuf Saraberkir on the occasion of 35 years since the company’s foundation and five years of company’s operation in Bulgaria. 

Over 20 million leva were invested in Pleven in 2002 by the Turkish company-leader in the production of metal wrappings for the establishment of their factory Sarten Bulgaria Ltd. The production started with 30 employees and their number now is 300 with tendency for increase.  One year after the official opening, the company was awarded with the Investor of the Year prize by the Municipality of Pleven.  The celebration of these anniversaries was held in the Bulgarian church St. Stefan in Istanbul with the participation of Bulgarian soloists and the conductor Mr. Plamen Jurov.

A serious investor’s interest in Pleven was shown by Mr. Peter Sur – Managing Director and Mr. Thomas Viladsen – Chief Manager of the Danish company TK “DEVELOPMENT” at today’s meeting with the governing and executive body of the Pleven Municipality. The company’s article of business activity is the real estate construction, mostly large trade centers.
The company itself is represented in nine countries in Northern and Eastern Europe, and in Bulgaria it functions from January this year.

The Mayor of the Pleven Municipality – Mr. Naiden Zelenogorski took part as a head of an institution, which contributed to a great extent to the successful implementation of the Programme “Initiative local self-government” of the American Agency for International Development, in the 12th anniversary celebration of the Programme and the completion of its implementation in Bulgaria. The celebration took place in Sofia on April 17.
The development of the processes in the two most important spheres of the “Initiative local self-government” – the fiscal decentralization and the effective local self-government were the main topics considered at the meeting. Afterwards there was a discussion about the challenges that the local self-government is confronted with. 

The Mayor of the Pleven Municipality Mr. Naiden Zelenogorski took part as a member of the Bulgarian delegation in the 69th solemn plenary session of the Committee of the Regions in the Italian capital. The session was devoted to the 50th anniversary of signing the Rome treaty. The President – Georgio Napolitano, the Prime Minister of the Italian Republic– Romano Prodi, Mr. Pyotering – Chairman of the European Parliament, Mr. Barozo – Chairman of the European Commission were among the honorable quests on the official session. One of the main themes on the session was the participation of the young people in the developing process of the local communities. A special declaration for more power and higher interest of the young people in public life processes was approved.
